PROTEIN COMPOSITIONS - WHAT IS AVERAGE?

When confronted with a question such as, "Is it unusual to have a leucine content of 10%?", it is sometimes helpful to know what is an "average" amino acid composition. One way of approaching this question is by tabulating compositions for all protein sequences that are currently in the Protein Identification Resource. The following table provides such a compilation.
