The survey committee is continuing analysis of data from the two most recent ABRF surveys. A detailed presentation and a poster are planned for the August 11 Satellite Meeting as noted on page 3 of this newsletter. We were especially pleased with the number of responses to our 1989 Operations Survey; 124 completed questionnaireswere returned for an outstanding response rate of 82%. This number of responses should give statistical validity to our analyses of the data. The downside of the high response rate is that the task of data analysis has taken longer than anticipated. However, the analysis is nearing completion and should provide interesting insights about available services, throughput and turnaround time, service charges and laboratory space, and related information.
The earlier instrumentation survey also yielded interesting results that will be included in the presentations. One example of the information obtained is illustrated in the table below which compares relative satisfaction and repair experience by type of instrument.
Another data compilation reveals the types of services offered by our member core facilities as illustrated in the table below. The data are based on 124 respondents except for the on-line PTH analyzer value which was based on 109 responses.
