PROTEIN SEQUENCE COMMITTEE

The sequencing committee has prepared and characterized this year's sample, ABRF-93SEQ. The sample was mailed in early February 1993 to all facility directors with current ABRF membership. Due to a clerical oversight, return labels were not included with the package containing the 1993 sequence test sample. However, as noted in the cover letter, all results should be returned to: Mr. Gary Gryan, HHMI Computer Facility, Harvard Medical School, Dept. of Genetics, 200 Longwood Ave., Boston, MA 02115. As always, your individual responses will remain confidential as all identifying marks will be removed by Mr. Gryan prior to forwarding the data to the committee for evaluation. ABRF-93SEQ was designed based on your responses to the September 1992 post-card survey (see ABRF Newsletter Vol. 3, No. 4, Dec. 1992). Please schedule time to analyze the sample, report your results on the data return sheet, and complete the brief questionnaire. If you are a current 1993 member but have not received ABRF-93SEQ please fax a note to Dan L. Crimmins at 314-454-0175. Thanks once again for participating in this year's study. As in the past, the results will be discussed at our annual meeting.

We also note that in the tabulation of ABRF-92SEQ results published in the Dec. 1992 ABRF Newsletter, the symbols for hydroxyproline (J,j) were not defined.
