The major effort of the Education Committee over the past few months was directed towards the workshops and the tutorial which were presented at the 1993 ABRF meeting in San Diego. Ken Walsh presented an excellent discussion of "Mass Spectrometry for Beginners". The six workshops organized by committee members were very well-received. The committee is currently searching for an appropriate meeting at which to present workshops which focus on nucleic acids.
Committee member Corey Levenson has made arrangements for the ABRF to start an electronic bulletin board as a corner of the ACS bulletin board. The bulletin board is presently being tested by Mark Crankshaw and Umit Yuksel. We expect to publish directions for using the bulletin board in the next newsletter.
The committee will continue to sponsor a column providing practical tips in technologies relevant to our members. We ask each ABRF member who has a method which has worked well in his/her laboratory to share it with all. Please send your "Tips" to Hank Wolfe, Sterling Drugs, Inc., 25 Great Valley Parkway, Malvern, PA 19335.
