A membership brochure describing ABRF and containing a membership form is now available. Designed by Audree Fowler, with help from the Education Committee and the Executive Board, this brochure will help publicize the ABRF. To gain as much exposure as possible, we encourage every member who is attending a meeting to take some brochures and distribute them. Brochures may be obtained from the ABRF Business Office or from any member of the Education Committee. Please indicate how many you would like and the shipping address.
The Education committee has also been working on starting an ABRF Bulletin Board which can serve as a means of quick communication among our members. This will be accomplished by two means. A GOPHER hole will be set up by Ümit Yüksel. This can be used to post items such as articles, the ABRF News, announcements from committees, membership lists, etc. For more interactive communication among members, a list server is being set up on computer facilities generously provided by Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Ruth Angeletti is coordinating the list server. The ABRF will have a "mailing list" consisting of the e-mail addresses of the interested membership. Using the ABRF e-mail, members will be able to:
When a message or question is sent to the ABRF address, the host computer ("list server") will then send the message to everyone on the mailing list. Any responses to the query are returned to the ABRF address and then distributed to everyone. Potentially this is a way to get expert help from a large pool of the membership. Instructions for using these communications tools will be distributed at the 1994 ABRF Meeting and will be published in the September ABRF News.
