Also, look for the ABRF workshop at the ASBMB meeting. This year's topic is nucleic acid technologies, organized by Clayton Naeve, Ron Niece, and the Nucleic Acids Research Committee.
A second major ABRF meeting will be held in conjunction with the European Symposium of the Protein Society in Davos, Switzerland. Len Packman and Peter Hunziker have developed an exciting program emphasizing new approaches to protein characterization. Greg Grant will represent the US side of ABRF at this meeting, which we hope many of our European members will attend.
David Speicher and Steve Carr, meeting organizers for our first independent meeting to be held in March 1996 in San Francisco, have recruited an outstanding program committee. This meeting will focus on techniques in nucleic acids, protein, and carbohydrate chemistry. We would like this meeting to address your needs and interests, so please send your suggestions for workshop or plenary session topics to David Speicher.
We are pleased that the W. Alton Jones Cell Science Center has become an ABRF Sponsor. Their generous support is evidence that the ABRF is providing valuable services to researchers at that institution. We sincerely appreciate their support.
We initiated an electronic mailing list and a gopher service this past summer. They are used by a large number of members and are featured in this issue. The high quality of these services exemplifies the spirit of cooperation and information-sharing that is a primary goal of this organization. The Executive Board is proud to serve such an outstanding membership, and we look forward to receiving your suggestions for making this organization even more helpful to its members.
