Protein Sequence Research Committee
The Protein Sequence Research Committee has prepared, characterized, and
distributed this year's test sample, ABRF-95SEQ. This sample is a protein
and contains standard amino acids including cysteine and tryptophan, which
were the focus of last year's study. In addition, when designing
ABRF-95SEQ, the committee deliberately introduced some sequence
heterogeneity within the first ten residues. The primary objective of this
year's study is to determine how far this sample can be sequenced.
Therefore, we encourage all study participants to assign as much sequence
for this sample as they can, using the same criteria for sequence accuracy
as they usually would for a sample submitted to their facilities for
analysis. Please make every effort to analyze the sample, and return the
first twenty-five chromatograms, the calibration standard chromatogram, the
data reporting sheets, and the short questionnaire using the return mailing
label sent with the sample.
Because the supply of this sample was limited, ABRF-95SEQ was mailed
during the first week of February only to facility directors listing
protein sequencing as a facility service in their ABRF membership profiles.
To all other facility directors, the committee sent a letter announcing the
study and a form for ordering the sample from the committee. If you are a
member (facility director) of ABRF and wish to receive ABRF-95SEQ, please
contact Jay Gambee at (503) 221-3445, Fax: (503) 221-3451.
