REPORT ON THE TENTH ABRF ANNUAL MEETING

On Saturday, July 8, the tenth meeting of the ABRF was attended by more than 650 representatives from core facilities, academic and research institutions, government, and industry. The program included seven separate sessions with twenty speakers, a lecture by the Beckman-ABRF Awardee, Klaus Biemann, the ABRF business meeting, and an informal "Graybeards and Others" luncheon. A dramatization of an interview between a distinctive user and a core facility director presented at the first meeting in 1986 was repeated. It is surprising that, while technology has undergone dramatic developments, so little has changed in terms of the human portion of our work.

The success of this meeting resulted from the hard work of many people: Nadine Ritter, Ron Niece, Nancy Denslow, and the ABRF Education Committee (organizers); Beth Fowler, Audree Fowler, Bill Lane, Dick Cook, and Alison Coppola (fund-raising); Robin Roth of the Protein Society (arrangements and coordination); and Karen De Jongh, Gregg Fields, Augustine Smith, Lincoln Stein, and Ümit Yüksel (workshop organizers).
