Proposal to Amend the Bylaws of the ABRF

All voting representatives of member laboratories will soon be receiving a proposal to amend certain sections of the Association's Bylaws. We urge every voting representative to exercise their right to vote and participate in this process.

Most of the proposals are relatively minor changes to bring the Bylaws up to date with common practices or terminology or to provide for more efficient or practical operation of the Association. However, a few proposals impact directly on the question of whether vendor employees should be allowed to serve on ABRF committees. The Executive Board feels that it is essential that this issue be resolved in accordance with the wishes of a majority of the membership. Therefore, it is imperative that you take the time to consider this issue and register your vote.

In order for a proposal to pass, 51% of all existing voting members must approve it. This is not the same as 51% of those members who actually vote. If a proposal is not approved by 51% of all members, the original bylaws will stand. The ballot will contain all the proposed changes with an explanation of why they are being proposed. In addition, statements describing the "pro" and "con" stances on the vendor employee question will be included for your consideration. Please watch for the ballot to arrive in the mail and please VOTE.
