This new electronic communications feature has become available through the efforts of many Associates of the ABRF. The Education Committee would like to especially acknowledge the essential role played by Ümit Yüksel in establishing the original ABRF Gopher Server. Ümit took the initiative to collate interesting electronic mailing list correspondence and had planned to place collated correspondence on the Gopher Server so members could read it. The Gopher Server contained not only the collated correspondence but also back issues of ABRF News , the ABRF Yellow Pages, the ABRF Mission Statement, and much more. He has been tireless in his efforts to establish and maintain a site in Gopher-land useful to ABRF members, and for this the whole of the ABRF owes him a great debt of gratitude. As you may know from the electronic mailing list, the Gopher Server has now been discontinued because the ABRF WWW Homepage and its mirror provide the information previously available only from the Gopher Server. The Education Committee would like to acknowledge the most recent Gopher Keeper, Clark Riley, for maintaining the Gopher Server while the Homepage and the mirror were being established. The collated electronic mailing list correspondence can be viewed from the "Selected Communications" Homepage by opening the URL:
http://www.caltech.edu/~ABRF/email/topics.html
or by using the link to this site on the ABRF WWW Homepage. The Education Committee would like to acknowledge the work of Dirk Krapf in establishing this new homepage, using collated correspondence provided by Ümit Yüksel.
As shown on the "Selected Communications" Homepage, several interesting categories have not yet been collated. The Education Committee asks you to consider helping by collating some of these topics and proposing new topics for collating. If you can help, please contact John Hempel, who is organizing this effort, at: hempel@psc.edu.
