The Education Committee has recently assumed responsibility for evaluating and updating electronic communications within the ABRF. At present, the Committee is refining the archival system for the electronic mailing list so that searches can be done effectively on archived messages. The key to archiving is proper "subject lines". Suggested subject headings for messages posted to the electronic mailing list can be found in the March 1997 issue of ABRF News (page 6). In the near future we hope to have a collection of articles on nucleic acids topics submitted to journals by ABRF members on-line and available on the World Wide Web. The Education Committee will be organizing note-takers for the tutorials at the ABRF '98 meeting in hopes of getting the information provided in these sessions on-line. We feel the information from these sessions is invaluable and should be made available for quick reference.
With the creation of the official logo came the question of how to use it. The marketing and distribution of the logo has become an official duty of the Education Committee. Our responsibility is to ensure that the logo becomes very visible to the scientific community as an easily recognized symbol of the ABRF. There are many places where the logo can and will be used. Expect to see it on the newsletter, official stationary, and conference literature. We are considering other possible uses such as stickers to place on posters at meetings showing membership in the organization. We will keep members informed as these materials become available.
