Positions Available

 

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a director for an expanding, interdepartmental, state-of-the-art protein core facility. Appropriate candidates must have a Ph.D. in chemistry or a biological science and considerable experience in protein sequencing, MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry, and HPLC applications. Experience in peptide synthesis is also highly desirable. Successful candidates must also be adept at interacting with investigators of varying backgrounds who are in need of the core's specialized services, and they should have an aptitude for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Finally, they should also have demonstrated experience in supervising the activities of others. Principal functions will be to direct the daily activities of core personnel, operate the core protein sequencer, establish and perform in-gel digestion methodology as an approach to micro sequencing, and maintain an effective record keeping/billing system. Additionally, the manager will play a key role in the development of new services. Review of applications will begin October 1, 1997.
