Welcome to the first commercially published issue of the Journal of Biomolecular Techniques, a peer-reviewed journal of the Association of Biomolecular Resource Facilities! Although there is perhaps an overabundance of journals these days, the ABRF and this publication fill a unique niche in science: the dissemination of information pertaining to the development, application, and sharing of advanced biotechnologies. These technologies, spanning a number of disciplines ranging from protein and nucleic acid chemistries to mass spectrometry to bioinformatics, have changed the practice of science.
It is a tribute to all ABRF members that the association's newsletter has evolved to this state. In particular, it is important to recognize the invaluable contributions of the former editors of this journal's predecessor, ABRF News--David Speicher, Ken Williams, and John Rush--for their vision and evolutionary improvements in a publication that is now in its tenth year of print. The JBT would not exist without their hard work and the dedication of many members who have contributed their substantial expertise to this endeavor, especially Associate Editors Ken Mitchelhill and Clive Slaughter and all of our current editorial board members.
This journal is your journal. Please consider contributing your best work to the Journal of Biomolecular Techniques.
