Dear Mass Spec users,

We are thinking about buying a new Mass Spec equipment but I know that there are dozens of models of equipments for sale now for different uses, different sensitivity and different sizes.
I'm planning to use it as a quality control of the peptides I synthesize (i'm currently working with Micromass Maldi-tof and I'm doing very well with it) but besides, I intend to use it to sequence proteins from 2D gels and maybe to detect peptides eluted from MHC molecules.
The question is, wich equipment would be better for these purposes (Maldi, ES, Qtof...)? I know that Qtof is the newest model in the market and it can detect peptides up to attomol range, but, can i use it as a routine quality control equipment too?
Also, if it is possible, I would like to have an idea of the other different uses of the equipment you are using now and the size of it. Actually we are going to move to a new building and I have to decide the size of the room I will install the equipment. What will be the best size? Besides a cool and dry room, is it necessary any kind of a special electrical system for the equipment?
        Thank you in advance,

Leo
