Suzanne,

I can offer another explanation, which has come up at least twice around
here. File it under the "less obvious" causes of unusual Lys-C
behavior: Folks who aren't used to using the one-letter code for amino
acid residues are prone to certain common mistakes. One of these is using
or interpreting the letter L as lysine. MIght be a possibility here.
