RE: Beckman System Gold

Hi,

I had the same experience. We upgraded the computer from PS/2 50 to a 233 MHz
pentium. Could not get GOLD to run under windows 98. We had to slow the CPU
speed down, turn off memory cache in BIOS ( apparently can cause data loss),
and remove windows and install DOS on the machine. Working fine for ~6 months
now.

Hi,
We also had a similar situation. Our hard drive crashed and we
replaced the computer with a machine that was running Win95 (vs Win3.1) and
could not get the Gold software to install. After several attempts with
Beckman service technicians we were told Gold software could not run under
Win95. We final contacted a Beckman Specialist named Jeff Schneider and
several hours of work produced a dual boot system with Gold software running
from DOS on the WIN95 system.
We also have to enter the BIOS and change the CPU speed, 350Mhz for
our particular CPU, every time we boot to WIN95. When we run Gold software
from DOS the CPU speed must be changed to "compatible" in the BIOS. This
eliminates the "time out" error message we were getting because the 350Mhz
computer was looking for data from the Gold software at to fast a rate. My
advice is to contact Jeff Schneider. You should be able to get the contact
information for Jeff Schneider from Beckman.
Hope this helps,

Hello,

I will un-lurk for a moment ... Did you also change the version of Windows?
I remember having some problems like that when we tried to change the
Windows version from 3.1 to '95 and Beckman support pretty much told us that
we couldn't upgrade.

I don't know if this is the same situation or if it was much help ...
