Job Title: RESEARCH ENGINEERING/SCIENTIST ASSOCIATE II
A position as a RESEARCH ENGINEERING/SCIENTIST ASSOCIATE II is available
in the DNA and protein sequencing core facility of the Institute for
Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Texas at Austin. The
focus of the DNA Core is the application of automated DNA sequencing as a
service to the academic community.
This position requires a BA/BS (with 3-5 years experience) or MS degree in
the area of molecular biology, genetics, or DNA technology. Candidates
should be well versed in several of the following listed basic molecular
biology techniques including automated DNA sequencing, use of
computer-based DNA sequence analysis programs and sequence databases, PCR,
agarose and polyacrylamide gelelectrophoresis.
Candidates must have good oral and written communication skills and
experience with Windows 95/98 and NT workstations, and general productivity
software such as MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint and web-based applications
and bioinformatics. Experience in protein research would also be of
advantage. Candidates must be able to work in a team-oriented and dynamic
environment where they will interact with a large number of scientists and
work on several projects simultaneously.
