department for a research assistant to do protein separations with
identification and characterization by mass spectrometry. This position
offers the opportunity to participate in original, collaborative

Description
An active research program involves the separation and analysis of
proteins that display changes in expression level or modification, which
correlate with disease state, development stage, or drug treatment. A
research assistant is needed to perform all aspects of the separation
and analysis. These include liquid chromatography, one- and
two-dimensional gel electrophoresis, gel staining and image analysis,
protein digestions, peptide analysis by mass spectrometry, and computer
based data analysis.
Requirements
The candidate will have a BS or MS degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or
related field with 3-5 years experience. Proficiency in electrophoresis,
western blotting, HPLC, and picomole-level protein manipulation is
essential. Experience with mass spectrometry is desired. Excellent
writing, speaking, and computer skills are expected.
