Hi,

A colleague has posed the following question to me. Unfortunately, I have
not been able to come up with an answer. Could anyone provide us with an
explanations of the ìscoreî for this Multident AAA Query? Thanks

I used the ExPASy WWW Server and received the results of a
MultiIdent Query from expasy@expasy.ch <mailto:expasy@expasy.ch>

When I asked for the search I entered the AA composition.
What I received back were two tables: SWISS-PROT database and TrEMBL
database with the following headings and one example from SWISS-PROT:

                Rank Score Protein (pI Mw)
Description

                1 32 AMP2_HUMAN 5.57 52892
Methionine Aminopeptidase 2 (EC 3.4.11)

What I don't understand is the "score". I couldn't find an
explanation of it in the documentation other than a short statistical
description and not how it relates to the similarity of the two proteins,
which is what I need to know. For example, what score would indicate
identity and what score shows no identity. Then I could figure out what the
intermediate numbers mean.

                Thanks.
