We have thought that transfering IEFs would be possible by placing
nitrocellulose on both sides of the gel (instead of just the anode side).
The protein is uncharged (it's at its pI) so once you start the transfer,
it could go either way. In IEFs, SDS is not bound to the protein. We use
methanol in our transfer buffer for SDS PAGE gels and have no difficulties.
I have never transfered an IEF but would be interested in others'
experiences.
