The auto-tracker on recent versions of Sequence Analysis also crashed.
The problem is fixed by switching to a slightly older version. For Seq
Analysis, we run V3.3 (or V3.4), but use the tracker ('SAGelTracker')
from V3.2. I suspect GeneScan uses the same gel tracker, so look in your
older versions or contact PEBio for that older tracker. The only real
difference is improved support for BioLIMS, which we do not use.
Another poster commented that they had given up on the G4 and returned
it for G3 instead. We have four G4's that have been used for sequence
analysis, and have had no problems with them (once we figured out the
gel tracker issue). Yes, a G3 at the same clock speed is every bit as
powerful ... for now. Few of the applications are coded to use the high-
speed vector processing in the G4. At some point, however, I'm sure the
code will catch up with the hardware.
