Hello: I am new to this list, and am looking to purchase a research-grade
peptide synthesizer for materials science applications, in which we will be
synthesizing fairly length polypeptides (around 80 residues), and which are
quite acidic. Does anyone have experience for recommending which
company/model would be best for these less traditional peptides. In
particular, I am wondering how valuable it is to have the conductivity
feedback monitoring capability that PE Biosystems touts. My impression is
that it would be particularly useful for synthesizing long chains, but I
have been told (by a competitor) that it isn't really very useful. Being
that the PE Bio instruments are much more expensive, it would be helpful if
anyone has some advice. Thanks,
Laurie Gower
