The Bayer Biotechnology Center in Berkeley, California, has an opening in its
Research Group for a scientist to perform protein identification and
characterization by mass spectrometry. The successful candidate will work
within a team-based environment and be responsible for the characterization and
identification of proteins from complex and enriched mixtures using
electrospray ion-trap and MALDI mass spectrometry. By effective integration of
MS techniques, the candidate will contribute to the discovery of novel
biological activities and characterization of disease-relevant biological
systems. The position requires a BS or MS in Biochemistry, Analytical
Chemistry or related field, and 2+ years experience. Proficiency in techniques
associated with protein identification by mass spectrometry, including HPLC,
peptide analysis by mass spectrometry and computer based data anaylsis is
essential. Experience in the analysis of subpicomole levels of proteins by
ESI-ion trap mass spectrometry is highly desirable.
