STAFF SCIENTIST (MASS SPECTROMETRY) ? (#SD-10578)
We have an opening for a staff scientist. The Fred Hutchinson Cancer
Research Center (FHCRC) is located in Seattle Washington, an area with
abundant cultural and recreational opportunities. The Center has more
than 2500 employees, housed in an administrative division and four
scientific research divisions. The Staff Scientistís duties will
include performing mass spec analyses using a high performance ion trap
(Finnigan LCQ) or MALDI-TOF instrument, for both protein sequence
identification and analysis of post-translational modifications. Other
duties as required. Excellent communication skills are required for
interacting with the Centerís research scientists and technicians, both
in communicating results and for consultation regarding specific
approaches for protein chemistry and analysis. There is opportunity to
develop new techniques and procedures that may lead to publication or
presentations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a Ph.D., with 1 - 2 years experience in protein analysis by Mass
Spec. Experience with other protein chemistry analysis techniques is
highly desirable. Experience with capillary HPLC for on-line Mass
Spectrometry is required. Must be familiar with ESI-MS and MS/MS data
collection and analysis. Must be able to utilize variety of search
algorithms to identify proteins from parent ion and fragmentation ion
data. Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
are required.
