I would like to echo the recommendation of Dan Brune for the excellent
ms/ms peptide de novo sequencing tutorial written by Dr. Rich Johnson. The
tutorial includes lucid explanations of important ms concepts such as
C.I.D. and piddling, and can be found at:
http://www.abrf.org/ABRF/ResearchCommittees/masspecquiz/abrfQuiz.html
The quiz itself provides a good example of the sort of data one can get
from both ion trap and Q-TOF type instruments. Even if you already know how
to sequence peptides by ms/ms, I suggest you take a quick stab at problems
#1 (ion trap data) and/or #3 (Q-TOF) if you have a decent sense of humor.
Regards,
Tom Neubert
