PE Biosystems is a world leader in the field of life sciences, DNA and
protein analysis. Exciting new strategies at PE Biosystems are aimed at the
development and commercialization of global solutions for genetic and
proteomic analysis. The Framingham, MA center of PE Biosystems is seeking
outstanding candidates at the junior or senior scientist level for
contributing to further success of its industry leader Voyager TOF mass
spectrometers.
Responsibilities of the successful candidate will include:
Development and adaptation of established and novel sample preparation
procedures for MALDI TOF analysis. This individual will play an active role
in optimizing protocols for an automated high-throughput environment with a
particular emphasis on large scale protein characterization.
The successful candidate will have Ph. D. in Analytical or Biochemistry or
in other areas relevant to biological applications of mass spectrometry.
Familiarity with the standard practices of peptide/protein chemistry is a
must, hand-on experience with MALDI TOF mass spectrometry is required.
Programming skills in high level languages such Visual Basic is a plus.
Post-doctoral experience is desirable but not required. This individual will
work in a stimulating environment of engineers of scientists, engineers, and
software engineers. Efficient communication across these groups is an
essential requirement of this position.
