Another very simple method to verify if it's PVDF or nitrocellulose is to
add a drop of acetone to a tiny piece of membrane. Nitrocellulose will
easily dissolve within seconds. By accident, I have used a NC-membrane in
our 473A once as well, but thouroughly cleaning all the affected lines with
acetone helped. Just the column had to be exchanged.
