Niel Brew asked the following in response to the benzoic anhydride capping
strategy used by the MDACC core facility:

John,
I read with interest your capping procedure. I use a pioneer peptide
synthesiser which P.E Biosystems recommends you do not use DCM. Do you think
DMF would also work (with the benzoic anhydride)?

        Neil. Brew

My response:

Although our lab has not tried it, I would expect benzoic anhydride in DMF
would work just fine. The original idea of the DCM was that is swelled the
polystyrene support better than DMF. However, DMF seems to be a good
solvent for peptide syntheses on polystyrene.

Give it a try, and let everyone know how it works.
