Hi Emily,
I am assuming that your client is trying to open the "chromatogram" containing
files in the ContigExpress module of the Vector NTI Suite and not directly in
VNTI. Vector does not read those files directly but rather, it takes the
assembled consensus sequence, or Contig, as it were, in a standard file text
file format such as GenBank format.
ContigExpress had no trouble opening and displaying a chromatogram fragment
file that I emailed to myself from my G3 Mac using OS9. I was using Netscape
mail client on the Mac to send the file and I saved the attachments on my
Windows 98 desktop and dragged and dropped them into an open ContigExpress
project window.
It sounds like you may be correct in guessing that your encoding in Mac
BinaryII may be the culprit. Is this done automaticaly by your mail or FTP
client?
