Hi to all,

Although my question was specifically generated by searching Edman data using MSEDMAN
at the Prospector site, I would be happy for input from the bio-informatics saavy
people regarding species and phyla in databases in general.

I want to use sequence data with multiple residues at each site to query viral
sequences. (The protein I'm sequencing may have a piece of a viral protein
covalently attached.) Viral proteins were matched when I chose the organism "non
human", but not (submitting the same request) when using "microorganism". The
problem is that the number of matches using the non human entries is too large to
sort through to find the few viral candidates. Is there a way to do this search with
only a "viral" database?

Thanks to all in advance for replies,

Linda

A Weather Inconsequential (really): After the New York areas 90+ degree (F) heat
wave, the forecasters yesterday said that it would be "cooler" today, expecting
temperatures in the 70's. I headed out this morning with sandle's, jeans and a short
sleeved shirt to find it's too cold to get outside for a break.
