Amgen Inc. invites applications for an open Research
Associate position at its Peptide Technology Group located in Boulder,
Colorado. This position is responsible for synthetic method development in
peptide and peptidomimetic related chemistry and support of Amgen's core
peptide synthesis operations through the synthesis of peptides of high
complexity. Requirements include a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Organic
or Medicinal Chemistry and typically 3 or more years practical synthesis
experience. Critical skills include the ability to meet project timelines
and work independently in the lab toward project goals; experience in
reaction database searches and method optimization with demonstrated
evidence of research achievements in the synthesis of amino acid analogs,
peptides, or peptidomimetics; extensive knowledge of modern synthetic
organic chemistry and associated purification, spectroscopic and analytical
techniques including NMR, mass spectrometry, HPLC, and scaling up to
multi-gram quantities; strong written and verbal communication and computer
skills. Experience with solution and solid phase peptide chemistry
techniques is preferred.
