Try NaIO4 , 5 equivalent compare to the Met residue, in Imidazole buffer
50 mM, for 5 minutes exactelly. Quench the reaction with 50 eq Met,
Acetic acid and Ethylen Glycol. Purify immidiatly on a Prep HPLC. Be
carefull on the N-Terminal amino acid, if it is Thr or Ser you would
get the coresponding glyoxal peptide. If you have free Cys, they will go
to SOH, SO2H and SO3H.
