>From time to time companies not affiliated with ABRF send mass e-mail
messages
("spam") to the participants of this forum. This is, indeed, annoying,
but
even more annoying are the numerous expressions of righteous indignation,
irate
calls to action, and, occasionally, even threats against the spamers, all
of
which follow the original e-mail, often for days or weeks after.
Personally I
have no problem with individuals registering their complaints with the
spamer
or the spamer's ISP, although I very much doubt the effectiveness of such
actions. However, I do not want to read these responses any more than I
care
to read individuals' personal e-mail. If you feel you should express your
distress at the sender of a particular spam by e-mailing back, please
avoid
copying the rest of us to your massage. It is clear to me that the
individuals
who, with the best intentions undoubtedly, carry on and on about the evils
of
spam, are actually contributing to the problem, often to a m!
uch greater extend than the original perpetrators.
