If you want to have some fun,you can do all the things that you are doing
with an
AccQTag system, but let us take one thing at a time. The last time I heard
about it,
Whatever is sold by Waters includes a fluorescence detector.I do not
remember how
much it cost, but it was near 40K.It will do a great job at levels that most
people
do not need, like in the femtomole range, but if you want to work at low
levels it
should be great. Its advantage over the better know Pico-Tag,is its ease of
operation,
the fact that there is very little interference with anything, and that the
reaction
product is stable at room temperature. The UV version is not so well
advertised,because
any HPLC system in fairly good shape will do the job.The sensitivity is as
good as
Pico-Tag,and it is more sensible with synthetic peptides.I have set up two
UV systems
at a lower cost than the Waters system. It will be quite a shock to use a
fraction of
one percent of your sample.I prefer the UV version, but it depends on your
budget and
willingness or not to fiddle around with your set up,but I would recommend
AccQTag
wholeheartedly. You can ask more questions,if desired.

Subject: AAA: Purchase of Waters AccQ-Tag

Hello:

We are considering the purchase of a complete Waters AccQ-Tag system and
would appreciate any comments.

We currently have two Beckman 6300's which will handle all physiological
fluid, crude protein and collagen samples. The pre-column system will be
needed only for purified protein/peptide hydrolysates.

Thanks for your time.
Jack
