PCR Sequencing

Dear All, when sequencing PCR products I have found that some sequences
show little or no signal for the first 10-30 bases and then seem to
gradually make an appearance. Doesn't happen to all products on a gel, but
in an array of 96 perhaps 10-25% are affected. Any clues?
