Research Manager - DNA Core Facility
Reports To: Research Coordinator
Department: TTD Input Traits-Genomics
Location: Johnston, Iowa
Job Purpose: To manage the ongoing activities of the DNA Core Facility
Duties/Responsibilities: The Research Manager will be responsible for
management of scientific efforts in the areas of DNA sequencing,
oligonucleotide synthesis, EST clone archiving and retrieval, cDNA library
construction and subtraction and yeast 2-hybrid screening. These activities
will require ongoing collaboration with the scientists in Johnston and
Wilmington.
Educational Qualifications Desired: Ph. D. in Biological Sciences
Competencies and Experience Desired: The successful candidate will have
hands-on knowledge and experience in automated DNA sequencing and oligo
synthesis. Expert skills in general molecular biology techniques, such as
cDNA library construction, library subtraction and yeast 2-hybrid
development and screening, are required. This person will also have
excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to work well in
a team atmosphere. Must have knowledge of common analytical computer
programs and applications. Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to
work with a diverse group of people.
