Research Associate, Protein Biochemistry

Athersys is engaged in the development of therapeutic products for the
treatment of significant and life threatening diseases. The companyís
research and development programs are focused on its two proprietary
platform technologies: RAGE (Random Activation of Gene Expression) and
SMC (Synthetic Microchromosome) vector system. We are located in

We are expanding rapidly, and are currently seeking individuals with
experience in protein purification and characterization. The primary
responsibilities of this position are to apply state-of-the-art
purification and analytical methods to a variety of interesting proteins
and to collaborate closely in a multi-disciplinary effort. This is an
opportunity to integrate a broad range of skills into all scales of
protein production, and to play an important role in the development of
protein therapeutics.

Qualified applicants should have a B.S. or M.S. in Biochemistry or
related fields with 0-3 years experience. Candidates must have practical
experience with purification and characterization of proteins, including
HPLC, SDS-PAGE, IEF and other standard methods. Experience in process
development for protein purification is a plus. We value dedication,
creativity, flexibility, intellectual independence, communication
skills, and the ability to integrate individual effort into the
accomplishment of team scientific goals.
