GC analysis of amino acids

I have a colleague who is looking for a GC method for separating and
quantitating hydrophobic amino acids. I'm aware of the old literature where
amino acids were derivatized for EI-MS, and GC-MS, but am unaware of methods
that describe direct GC analysis of non-volatile zwitterions. I know the
standard methods, so no need to respond with suggestions regarding TLC, ion
exchange etc.
