I agree that trypsin is the best.I have had some luck with Asp-N,never with
Glu-C.The Lys-C and Arg-C should give you the same type of result as
Trypsin.CNBr is messy, and depends on the number of Met in the protein.I
have used with some success chymotrypsin.
However, you will have yours work cut out,if you want to do your ID using
MALDI-TOF,
I suppose with HPLC first. As for suppliers,I would suggest Panvera(Takara)
and Roche
(formerly Boeringer Mannheim),if they still carry the enzyme line. You can
use Sigma for
excitement.

Subject: 2nd Best Digestive Enzyme.
Hi
I believe "trypsin" is the best or most favourable enzymeÝto chop off the
proteins.
What may be the 2nd best enzyme for peptide digestion?Ý Peptide fragments
will be applied to MALDI-TOF followed by digestion.
Here some candidates:
1.Ý CNBr
2.Ý Endoproteinase Arg C
3.Ý Endoproteinase Asp N
4.Ý Endoproteinase Lys C
5.Ý V8 (D,E)
6.Ý V8 (E)
All above are available options from "ProFound" search Engine. (

Which company could you recommend to purchase it, also?
Thanks in advance,
