MASS SPECTROMETRIST (PROTEOMICS)

Applications are invited for a three year position as a Mass
Spectrometrist within the new BBSRC-sponsored Proteomics Centre at
the University of Cambridge. The Proteomics Centre will develop
state-of-the-art 2D gel analysis and mass spectrometry techniques for
the Arabidopsis and Drosophila research communities. It will be
staffed by a total of two postdoctoral workers, four technicians and
a Facility Manager. The successful candidate will operate Micromass
Q-ToF LC-MS/MS and TofSpec2E mass spectrometers and develop new
procedures for protein sequencing by mass spectrometry including
high-through put technologies.

Candidates should have a PhD and 3 to 5 years' experience in mass
spectrometry, preferably applied to biological samples and ideally in
protein/peptide-related research. Knowledge and experience of modern
computer-assisted data acquisition, data analysis and database search
procedures together with a willingness to advise and train staff in
mass spectrometry is essential.

Salary on appointment will be within the range £16,286 - £24,479 per
annum (pay award pending) depending on qualifications and relevant
experience.
