PepSyn:FITC Vs. Fluorescein ?

A customer wants to order a fluorescently labeled peptide. So far I
have found two possible protocols. One adds a beta-alanine or other
spacer onto the N-terminus of the peptide and reacts that with FITC.
The other protocol adds 5-carboxyfluroscein onto the N-terminus of the
peptide.

O.K. so my question is: Is there a rational approach to deciding which
method would be better for my client's peptide ?

Thank you all again for your help !
