TEV cleavage site

To all members,

I wish to place the TEV cleavage site between two proteins. I will not
be using a His-tag. The protocol I have is for the TAP tag which I don't

need. However, this protocol gives spacer regions prior to and after the

TEV cleavage site. I need to know whether these spacer regions are
required for my application.

Any suggestions?
