Jerry,
Peptides exist as hydrated salt forms. When you weigh out a peptide for
the preparation of a solution, you are actually weighing peptide, salts
associated on the side chains of the peptide and bound water. It is
quite possible that peptides obtained from different suppliers,
depending on how they were made and purified, could contain different
amounts of these three components. You need to request peptide content
information from your suppliers, or find someone to do a quantitative
amino acid analysis on your samples.
