Hi, all,
Our lovely old but lonely (has sat on it's own since 4/94) ABI 430 peptide
synthesizer needs to find a new home. It made 126 great peptides for us
and only suffered one major TFA spill (well squirt, actually). It was
stored after exhaustively rinsing out the acids and bases--but of course,
the valve blocks probably haven't enjoyed resting for so long.
Yesterday, the electronics turned on beautifully--and I was almost tempted
to type in a peptide sequence on the screen, load up the carts and
chemicals and start it up--but I refrained.
Before I go talk to our Property Control Manager, I wanted to assess the
market for this great (but now obsolete) machine. Are there any
interested buyers out there? and what would you offer? Armed with this
information, hopefully, I can successfully argue that this 430 should go
off to a good home where it can be at work again--and not just sit down in
our great Morgue of Dead Instruments in the basement here--that would be
such a waste!
