Our laboratory is funded in small part by an endowment shared with the
crystallography labs next door. These monies were raised over five years by
a philanthropic club that we have within our college. It helps.

Subject: Core facility endowments

Hi
In the never ending struggle to find funding for our facility, I've
thought about trying to create an endowment fund for our core facility.
However, our faculty wants examples of other universities who have done
this. Do any of you work for a university where your core facility is
endowed and operates under a sponsor's name? The center doesn't have to
be exclusively core facilities. If you this has been a recent event,
please let me know approximately when it occurred.
Of course, if you know any philanthropists willing to have their
name on our door, let me know too.
