Re: This group is out of control

Hello all,
Since this group is actually the discussion group of the Association
of Biomolecular Resource Facilities, the recent discussions of the
society's business are actually "on topic". The person who suggested
a need for a moderator is not a member of the society, and, although
the discussion group is open to members and nonmembers alike, I don't
think we should reform this useful group according to the preferences
of non-ABRF members.

With that said, I would like to extend to all of you non-members,
lurkers and participators alike, an invitation to join the ABRF. You
will find our mission statement and a membership form at
http://www.abrf.org. Among the benefits of membership are the
ability to receive samples from the research groups, the ability to
vote for members of the Executive Board (the people who listen to the
complaints and try to make decisions about the society, for the good
of its members), a discount to the annual meeting, and a directory of
ABRF members. The ABRF is the group which supplies the volunteers to
keep this bulletin board discussion group talking.

You do not need to join the ABRF to participate in this discussion
group, but please, consider it.

Weather Inconsequential: It's cold here in Omaha, with a few
snowflakes blowing past the window. It has been a busy fall.
Tuesday was a cub scout pack meeting, and tonight is a PTA Chili
Feed, and we're all juggling samples and ABRF matters to boot. I
hope you all you USA residents have a good thanksgiving--I hope all
of you outside the US have some time to celebrate as well. I am
thankful for this discussion group where I have met so many friends,
and learned so many new things to try in my lab. I am thankful for
the Research Groups which have taught me entirely new techniques.
So...if you will put up with me being maudlin, I am thankful for the
ABRF. It has done a lot for me.
