Larry:

The micro version of the Agilent 1100 Well Plate Sampler will (my sources
tell me)
be on the price list January 1.

Please feel free to contact my colleague, Dat Phan
(mailto:dat_phan@agilent.com)
for any technical issues you may have concerning our capillary LC system.
I have informed Dat that you may contact him!

Subject: autosamplers for LC/MS

Dear ABRF members,

I'm currently evaluating autosamplers to replace my old Waters WISP. I
would like an autosampler with refrigeration and a very low solvent path
volume. It will be used to inject peptide digests from 2D gels via a
Michrom trap onto a 100 um capillary column and LCQ. Two autosamplers that
come to mind are the Agilent 1100 series well plate autosampler and the LC
Packings FAMOS. Does anyone have any experience with these autosamplers
they would like to share, or any suggestions for other autosamplers?

The advantages of the Agilent autosampler are the price and that I already
have a hand held controller to operate it. The disadvantage is that there
is no software that would allow Xcalibur to control it. The advantage of
the FAMOS is that it has been around longer, it can be controlled by
Xcalibur, and it may be better suited for injections from very small
volumes. However, are small volume injections really necessary if a trap is
used to concentrate samples?

Thank you in advance for your input.

Sincerely,

Larry David
