Hi Michael,

One convenient method for the synthesis of homopolymers of tyrosine
or other amino acids is the polymerization of the N-carboxy anhydride
derivative of the amino acid. This technique and the properties of the
polymers obtained are described in a comprehensive review by Katchalski and
Sela:

Katchalski, E., and Sela, M. (1958) Advances in Protein Chemistry 13:242-492

        Good luck.
