We are in the process of evaluating new machines for protein identification and are looking at both ESI-TOF and MALDI-TOF. I am curious to hear what folks have to say with regard to any comparisons they have done and why they might have selected one over the other. We feel that MALDI appears to be much easier not to mention we have experience with it and our ABI and Waters reps have been quite helpful. ESI-TOF does eliminate the matrix mixture problems but the needle has a different set of issues.
Would also like to know if anyone is considering the MALDI-TOF-TOF from ABI. Supposedly higher throughput without loss of sensitivity or mass accuracy.
Many thanks in advance
