Morning.
This message sort of tags on to the 3700/3100 core environment use
discussion that's starting, having purchased a 3700 a year or so ago I'm
running into a few 'support' difficulties (having said that I'm hoping to
work something out with the UK ABI guys to be fair...). It's another small
gripe to add to the list!
I currently run a 3700 in a core facility for both sequencing and genescan
which means I'm restricted to using POP6 as ABI have never 'officially'
released POP5 for genescan use.
I'm experiencing a huge demand at the moment and would like to take
advantage of the quicker POP5 run times, even if it only speeds up
sequencing and GS runs remain the same....has anyone done such a
'validation' exercise? (anyone at ABI care to comment on this or any future
polymer releases? Sequencing and genescan for us all with POP5 and any new
releases?). Is there a specific reason not to use POP5 for genescan? From
what I gather there is just a 'no development' policy for the POP5
concerning genescan. Please be aware that some users have more than one
application for the 3700!
Supporting me as a core facility means supporting the whole Institute, and
greater productivity means more spending on ABI consumables (especially if
the v3.0 BD's are as good as I'm told!)....I'm quite happy to spend a lot of
my time doing the validation on our own samples if required.
Thanks for any input.
